TECHNICAL INFORMATION

The story of its development....

Conceived during our treks, we wanted to combine the ultra-compactness of our folding poles with the ergonomic grip of our cane.
Why? We realized that the traditional grip wasn't for everyone, especially over long periods of time. That's why we created this slightly different stick, which doesn't break the wrist and distributes effort more evenly down the arm, since it's aligned with the axis of the stick.

Why did we focus on sustainability?

You trek to enjoy the peace and quiet of the great outdoors, which sometimes means being far from civilization. What's more, you'll be carrying your gear for days on end. So you need to be able to rely on the strength of your poles.
We've therefore opted for widened tubes made from top-of-the-range aluminum. We've secured the push-pin area with internal reinforcement. As a result, this model can withstand 790 N (~79 kg) per stick, a figure derived from the compression test (support in the axis of the stick).

Why did we focus on compactness?

To get to your practice site, you'll probably have to use public transport. You'll also need to carry a lot of equipment in your bag. So it's much more practical to have sticks that don't take up much space. Once folded, these poles fit into the side pocket of your trekking backpack or small hiking bag.

How do you set your poles to the right length?

To use the stick: first unfold the stick until the push-pin "clicks". Refer to the instructions attached to the pole.
To adjust the length: The arm along the body should be almost straight or slightly bent. The length is therefore shorter than on a conventional stick:
- open the lever on the external blocker;
- slide the tube to the desired length;
- close the lever.
Never go beyond the STOP line to avoid the risk of breaking the stick.

Directions for use

This trekking pole is designed to help you balance, propel yourself and distribute effort between your arms and legs.
For greater safety, before setting off and at regular intervals, check your pole's locking mechanism by simulating heavy pressure. If you notice that your pole tends to sag, the locking knob needs adjusting. Open the lever and turn the knob a quarter to half a turn.
Do not put on your backpack in a thunderstorm.

Maintenance tips

Proper care of your stick will ensure optimum performance and a long service life.
After use, if water has penetrated the stick, dismantle the strands and allow to dry. Clean off any dust or mud with water or a soft brush. Once dry, you can reassemble the rods.
We recommend that you do not attempt to oil or grease the mechanisms.

Why is the stick sold individually?

At Decathlon, we've decided to sell our hiking/trekking poles individually. Firstly, for reasons of use. Some people only want to use one pole. Secondly, if one of your poles breaks, you only have to buy one pole rather than a whole pair.

Accessories for this model sold separately

COMPOSITIONS / ADVICE

Composition

Axis 100% Handle 90% Polypropylene, 10% Styrene-ethylene-butadiene-styrene

STOCK TIPS

Store the baton in a dry place without tightening the adjustment systems, so as not to stress them and preserve their clamping power.

TESTS

In order to establish our thresholds, we have measured the forces received by the poles in the most demanding situations of use. During development, each model undergoes laboratory tests that reproduce these stresses (compression, three-point bending, etc.), right up to the breaking point. We also test individual components (clamping force, pull-out, etc.). Finally, these tests are regularly repeated in production to ensure a constant level of quality.
