Classic or skating cross-country skiing: which poles to choose?

Cross-country skiing can be divided into two categories. Classic" cross-country skiing requires skis to be kept parallel, with the skis moving in alternating steps. Skating, on the other hand, is a more technical form of cross-country skiing, with movements similar to figure skating, known as "pas de patineur". These two different techniques do not require the same equipment. In classic cross-country skiing, the length of the poles must be approximately equal to the distance between the ground and the shoulder. It is therefore advisable to opt for more flexible poles. Skating poles, on the other hand, are shorter, generally reaching slightly below the shoulder, and need to be stiffer.
