How to produce a sound
A single press of the thumb produces one sound. An additional stop reached by a long, deep pressure produces a different sound.
To vary the sounds, simply vary this pressure:
- single, short pressure: imitate the call of the fawn.
- single, slightly longer pressure, without touching the stop: call of the goat
- long pressure and combined with the bottom stop: call of the goat in heat.
Use
Depending on the rutting season, animals in the vicinity, weather conditions, etc., you'll need to use one of the 3 sounds to get convincing results. In all cases, you must use the call sparingly and naturally. Too much calling will be counter-productive.
But the best learning experience is the one you'll get alone in the field, based on the reactions you observe.
