TECHNICAL FEATURES OF THE KLIMB GYM ROPE
They are measured and validated in the laboratory, by a certification body, in accordance with EN 892:
Number of falls: 8
Impact force: 8.5 KN
Sheath percentage: 36.1%
Dynamic elongation: 33 %
Static elongation: 4.7 %
Sheath slippage: 0 mm
To define the number of falls, the standard protocol is much stricter than reality. The fall factor used is very high: 1.77. Under normal conditions, the drop factor is much lower.
HOW IS THE KLIMB GYM ROPE DESIGNED TO PERFORM OVER TIME?
The weight is 66 g/m.
The weight is measured in accordance with standard EN 892.
For a single rope, the rope must be put under a tension of 10 kg for 1 min under very precise temperature and humidity conditions.
As a result, the actual weight of the rope is often higher than the weight stated in the standard.
But the standard does allow ropes to be compared objectively.
POSSIBLE EVOLUTION OF KLIMB GYM ROPE LENGTH
All climbing ropes shrink with age. This generally ranges from 2 to 5%, but can be as much as 10% depending on humidity, heat, falls, washing, etc.....To reduce this effect, we allow for an extra length in production, but sometimes this is not enough. That's why we recommend that you measure your rope regularly and check the location of the marking in the middle of the rope.
KLIMB GYM ROPE IS MADE IN FRANCE
All our ropes are designed and tested at our headquarters in Chamonix in the Mont Blanc valley.
They are manufactured in Northern France by our partner factory Cousin, experts in textile braiding for 170 years.
HOW TO WASH YOUR KLIMB GYM ROPE?
It is essential to maintain your rope to limit wear and tear. Dirt ages rope.
We recommend:
1- Use a rope bag at the foot of the routes.
2- If the rope is sale, wash it with clear, lukewarm water.
If stains persist and you want to clean them with soap, use a neutral soap, such as Marseille soap, and rinse thoroughly with clear water afterwards.
3- Dry the rope in the open air and in the shade, away from any source of heat.
HOW TO STORE YOUR KLIMB GYM ROPE?
Rope should be stored away from light, moisture, chemicals and heat. Be careful not to leave it inside a car in midsummer, for example.
HOW TO CONTROL YOUR KLIMB GYM ROPE?
It's important to check your rope regularly. To do this, slide your hands over the rope and look closely, metre by metre, at the entire length of the rope. This will enable you to spot any cuts, nicks, abrasions or soft spots on the rope. If you notice any of these anomalies or irregularities, if the core is visible in certain places, if it is deformed or has been subject to too many falls, it should no longer be used.
