WHAT ARE ELECTROLYTES?
When you exercise, you sweat, and the water you sweat contains minerals. Electrolytes help to make up for these mineral losses (sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, in the case of our tablets), and therefore in no way represent a carbohydrate/calorie intake.
Thanks to electrolytes, lactic acid, a metabolic waste product produced following exercise (which is responsible for the "empty legs" sensation), is evacuated, and the body's acidity is reduced.
ARE ELECTROLYTES RIGHT FOR ME?
An electrolyte tablet is easy to carry in a pocket, so it's simple for cyclists to prepare a bottle of electrolytes when out and about," explains Wim, product manager and triathlete. And to cope with the smaller flask opening (compared to water bottles), we've fitted our tablets with a break-off line, so that the tablet can easily be cut in 2. Electrolytes can also be used for fitness classes, tennis matches, etc.
A NEW FORMULA: THE TASTE OF SWEETNESS WITHOUT THE SUGAR
In the interests of a more natural sports diet, we have removed the artificial sweetener from our old product and replaced it with stevia, a plant extract not synthesized in the laboratory. "It's true that stevia perpetuates the sweet taste, without the sugar. The truth is, we'd like to create a product that's sugar-free and just as good... So, in the meantime, stevia seems like a great alternative", says Mathilde, Product Engineer.
AN EFFERVESCENT DRINK
Anyone who's never had the misfortune of drinking from a jug and forgotten that the contents were effervescent, raise your hand! Just as we thought: there are a lot of you out there (keeping your hand down)!
We'd also like to remind you that our electrolytes are slightly effervescent. So when you fill your can, remember to leave the nipple open a little.
That way, no more ("piouuu") surprises when you open it!
AND WHAT ARE ALL THESE INGREDIENTS REALLY FOR?
- Sorbitol is a bulking agent.
- Citric acid for taste and effervescence.
- Sodium bicarbonate for sodium intake.
- Potassium chloride for potassium intake.
- Magnesium oxide for magnesium intake.
- Calcium carbonate for calcium intake.
- Vitamins B2, B6 and C help reduce fatigue. Vitamin C is an antioxidant, and vitamin B1 contributes to normal energy metabolism.
- And stevia for sweet intensity.
