Why wear a hat when cross-country skiing?

Although it may seem strange, it's important to cover your head to keep your extremities warm. In very cold weather, the body will give priority to supplying blood to the heart and brain, to the detriment of the feet and hands.
So don't forget your hat if you don't want to get cold feet and hands!
