The most complete compass!
Thanks to all its functions, it allows you to:
- Orient the map or plan
- Follow a precise direction
- Determine its position by three bearings to carry out a triangulation
- Determine an object on the ground in relation to a known azimuth
Graduations 360 degrees and 6,400 thousandths
The rotating capsule consists of a double graduated ring: 360 degrees for the inner ring and 6,400 thousandths for the outer ring.
The more precise thousandth graduation was historically used for military exercises.
A mirror sight for greater precision
The mirror sighting system allows you to take precise readings in the field.
The small lock when opening the cover allows you to position the mirror at the ideal position (45°) for precise sighting.
To understand how to take a sighting, go to the explanatory video.
3 graduated scales: 1:50000, 1:25000 and 1:10000
The EXPLORER 900 compass is equipped with 3 graduations:
A 7 cm ruler
A 1:50,000 scale
A 1:25,000 scale
A 1:10,000 scale
A 2.5 inch ruler
They allow you to make measurements on your map and work on your scale reading.
Declination scale
Inside the capsule, you'll find a declination scale.
Magnetic declination is the difference in angle between magnetic north and geographic north on your map.
Find out on the Internet what the declination is in your country.
A wider, more intuitive and precise needle
When designing this compass, we opted for a wide needle to enable more precise visual alignment of the needle with the map's north lines. In fact, your needle is never aimed at a scale, but must always be perfectly parallel with the lines on the map.
Universal balancing
The needle on this compass is universal. It can be used anywhere on the globe!
