The Roth diving block
The block consists of:
- a steel bottle,
- a two-outlet stirrup valve,
- PVC cap,
- carrying handle,
- protective net.
Base and handle
The PVC base is adapted to the diameter of the bottles and allows them to be held in an upright position. A hole is provided at the bottom to drain off residual water and facilitate disassembly.
The carrying handle is made in 2 parts, allowing assembly and disassembly without unscrewing the tap.
Maintenance
It is forbidden to carry out repairs by welding, riveting or drilling on the cylinder, or any operation involving the removal of material or a significant rise in cylinder temperature (maximum 300°C).
Routine maintenance
It is advisable to rinse the block daily with fresh water, not forgetting the bottom (the hole in the PVC base is designed for this purpose): this removes sea water and sand, and thus prevents paint abrasion and premature corrosion.
Immediately touch up any areas of paint chipped by impact or abrasion.
Periodic maintenance
These units are subject to regular inspections as required by the legislation in force in the country of use. These checks must be carried out by authorized establishments or individuals.
In France, the decree of March 15, 2000 makes annual visual inspection by TIV mandatory, with requalification at 5 or 2 years.
Storage
Before prolonged storage, it is advisable to carry out the maintenance operations described above, as well as rinsing the inside of the bottle with fresh water and drying it thoroughly. In addition, we strongly recommend:
-storing the cylinder upright in a clean, dry, temperate place
-keep a low residual pressure inside the cylinder to evacuate any dust and condensation that may have entered through the valve opening.
Recommendations 1/2
Never gonflez a lift bag with bare fittings (without regulator).
- Never leave an empty cylinder with the valve open.
- Never leave a cylinder exposed to spray, waves, or swimming in the water at the bottom of the boat.
Recommendations 2/2
- If possible, keep some residual air pressure in the cylinder to evacuate any water that may have entered through the valve opening (if the cylinder has been completely emptied during a dive, leave the regulator in place until it is safe).
- Never empty a cylinder quickly, as this will cause the valve to ice up and condensation to build up inside the cylinder.
Diving block dimensions :
Height without tap: 62.5 cm.
Height with tap: 78 cm.
Diameter: 20.3 cm.
