The Roth diving block
The block consists of a steel bottle, a tap, a stirrup outlet, a PVC cap, a carrying handle and a protective net.
Base and handle
The PVC base is adapted to the diameter of the bottles, allowing them to be held in an upright position. A hole in the bottom of the bottle allows residual water to be drained off for easy removal. The carrying handle is made in 2 parts, allowing assembly and disassembly without unscrewing the tap.
Maintenance
It is forbidden to carry out repairs by welding, riveting or drilling on the cylinder, or any operation involving the removal of material or a significant rise in cylinder temperature (maximum 300°C).
Routine maintenance
It's advisable to rinse the block with fresh water every time you take it out, not forgetting the bottom: the PVC base has a hole for this purpose. This removes seawater and sand, preventing paint abrasion and premature corrosion. Immediately touch up any areas of chipped paint caused by impact or abrasion.
Periodic maintenance
This block is subject to regular inspections as required by the legislation in force in the country of use. These checks must be carried out by authorized establishments or individuals. (In France, the Order of March 15, 2000 makes annual visual inspection by TIV imperative, and requalification at 5 or 2 years).
Storage
Before prolonged storage, it is advisable to carry out the maintenance operations described above, as well as rinsing with fresh water and thoroughly drying the inside of the bottle. In addition, we strongly recommend storing the bottle upright in a clean, dry, temperate place, and maintaining a low residual pressure inside to evacuate any dust and condensation that may have entered through the valve opening.
Recommendations 1/2
Never gonflez a lift bag with bare valves (without regulator). Never leave an empty bottle with the valve open. Never leave a bottle exposed to spray, waves, or bathed in water on the bottom of the boat.
Recommendations 2/2
If possible, maintain residual air pressure in the cylinder to evacuate any water that may have entered through the valve opening (if the cylinder has been completely emptied during a dive, leave the regulator in place until the cylinder is out of harm's way). Never empty a cylinder quickly, as this can lead to frosting of the valve and condensation inside the cylinder.
