Standard :
EN1384-certified helmet
Lightweight :
520 g (Size 57).
Protection :
The primary mission of a helmet is to protect the wearer's head. The 520 model, tested and abused in our workshops for a good cause, features a polycarbonate and ABS shell, designed to absorb part of the energy on impact through partial deformation of the shell and/or the protective material. In the event of a fall, replace your helmet: its deformations are not always visible to the naked eye, and can sometimes be found inside the equipment.
Comfort :
This was one of our engineers' challenges: to offer you a helmet that's resistant, strong, light and super-comfortable. To achieve this, the Fouganza team worked on the ergonomics of the lanyard, which follows the shape of the rider's face. Made from polyester, it's soft and supple, offering real comfort! The removable, washable cap, attached to the helmet by a Velcro system, features foam precisely positioned to reduce pressure points on your head.
Optimum ventilation :
Whether riding a pony or a horse, the rider is sometimes far from thrifty! To reduce heatstroke and optimize perspiration evacuation, the 520 helmet is designed with ventilation in mind. With 27 holes on the front and top, and ventilation channels on the underside of the shell, it allows air to circulate and optimizes ventilation. Air enters through the front of the helmet and exits through the top... No more wet hair at the end of a session!
Maintain :
A helmet that doesn't fit properly on your head and moves around doesn't fulfill its protective mission. To ensure a secure fit, the 520 helmet harness has been completely redesigned: after several tests, our designers succeeded in creating an ergonomic system that passes through the back of the rider's neck without compressing it, and under the chin. The harness conforms to the shape of the rider's head without impeding movement. And it ensures excellent helmet fit. Mission accomplished!
How to choose your helmet :
Our 520 helmet is available in various sizes, from 53 to 61. Although DECATHLON stores offer a wide range of sizes, your size may not be available: please feel free to order from our website! To choose the right protection, measure your head size and try it on. To protect you properly, your headgear needs to fit properly! So, for children, never buy a helmet that's too big, on the assumption that your toddlers will grow...
Practicality:
Because abundant hair isn't always easy to store on horseback, and many riders don't like to leave their mane untangled when they're in the saddle, training or out for a ride, the 520 helmet offers them a trick: thanks to the harness, with one of its straps passing over the nape of the neck, Amazons can slide their ponytail into the space between the shell and the harness, for greater fixity. It's worth thinking about...
Washable, interchangeable bonnet:
The 520 helmet includes a cap made of foam and mesh (breathable fabric), offering real comfort. This element, held in place by an effective Velcro system, is removable and hand-washable in cold water. If your helmet hasn't suffered any damage, but you'd just like to change the inside, no problem! You'll get brand-new foam and a comfortable fit, without having to invest in full protection.
Easy maintenance :
To care for your helmet, clean the outside with a cloth.
We strongly advise against the use of solvents or other aggressive products, which could alter the helmet's effectiveness and cause damage. The removable inner cap is machine-washable at 30°C.
For storage and transport, a small textile bag protects the helmet from dirt, scratches and light.
A neat look :
Depending on your riding habits and tastes, the 520 helmet is available in several models. Painted or suede, it comes in a variety of styles to suit every rider's preferences. Some will opt for the clean lines of the classic single-color version, while others will opt for the two-tone version. As for rhinestones, they're sure to please dressage aficionados.
Helmet adjustment :
For optimum protection, the helmet should be in close contact with the head, with no compression points. When the harness and back strap are properly adjusted, the helmet should not tip forwards, backwards or sideways, even when in motion.
The helmet harness should pass under the jaw, like a chinstrap, and not at chin level. It should fit snugly enough to prevent the helmet from tipping over, without strangling the wearer.
Shock absorption :
This helmet is designed to absorb part of the energy of a blow by partial deformation of the shell and/or protective material.
A helmet reduces the severity of head injuries. The protection afforded by a helmet depends on the circumstances of the accident, and wearing a protective helmet does not always prevent death or long-term disability.
Instructions for use:
We know you're anxious to test your helmet, but for your own safety, please read the instructions before using it.
This helmet is intended exclusively for riding, and must not be used for any mechanical, sliding or aerial sports. If you decide to try your hand at bobsleigh, Formula 1 or hang-gliding, this helmet will unfortunately not meet your needs. We advise you to opt for more appropriate protection.
Service life :
We recommend replacing your helmet after 5 years from the date of production (shown on the label), provided it has never been impacted and has been kept in proper storage conditions.
As the damage may be invisible, it is advisable to discard and replace any helmet that has been subjected to impact.
