ULTRA LIGHT and COMPACT
The components of our running cap have been selected for a perfect balance between lightness, compactness and moisture wicking.
You can easily put on and take off your cap. You can also compact it in your bag or in a pocket of your outfit (shorts, tights or jacket).
A versatile accessory essential for your running outings.
WHY PROTECT YOUR HEAD?
The fabric and removable neck guard provide effective protection from the sun.
The hypothalamus at the back of the head has many functions, including regulating body temperature. To avoid overheating and the risk of sunstroke, which can cut short your run, it's important to protect your entire head and neck from the sun's rays!
Saharan caps are mandatory on some ultra trail races!
Some ultra-trail races, such as the UTMBⓇ, require runners to carry compulsory equipment (heatwave kit) before they can take the start. As the main objective is to ensure your safety in a sometimes hostile and changing mountain environment, there are now "canicule" and "grand froid" kits to be complied with. The Saharienne cap or cap with neck protector is part of the canicule kit, so you need to take it with you.
Trailers' techniques for coping with hot weather:
To keep your head cool and clear even in the hottest weather, you can wet your cap. Although it dries quickly, it's designed to stay cool long enough.
When you feel the sun beating down on the back of your neck, pull out the removable fabric and fasten it in seconds with Velcro fasteners, without wasting time on your run.
Raise the visor to cope with uneven terrain!
Designed by and for trail runners, the cap's visor flips up for good visibility when you're facing uphill. When lowered, it protects your vision from the sun's direct rays.
A running cap tested and appreciated on several prestigious ultra-trails!
Jeremy, Damien, Nicolas and Gaëtan, members of the Kiprun design team and trail runners, tested the cap on the Diagonale des Fous in temperatures of over 30 degrees. Also tested on other ultras in extreme conditions by numerous trail runners, it was unanimously acclaimed!
The result is a comfortable cap that makes you forget you're wearing it, keeps you cool when you dampen it, and effectively protects your head and neck from the sun.
How to protect yourself from the sun:
Although this headgear provides protection from the sun, it is important to take precautionary measures before embarking on a trail run:
- Check the weather forecast so you can take the right equipment with you.
- Protect parts of your body exposed to the sun throughout the run.
- Wear sunglasses.
- Wear sunscreen regularly.
- Drink and eat regularly.
