When should I use these high socks?
These socks are recommended for static, low-intensity hunting and regular use. If, for example, you hunt from a stand in battues, migratory birds or stalking in autumn, then these socks will help keep your feet warm. As everyone's perception and resistance to cold is different, we recommend these socks for use between 0 and 10°C, although this may vary from person to person.
What materials are used in these socks?
This model is knitted with Merinos wool in a large pellet on the underside of the foot, calf and shin. Between these zones, a medium Thermolite synthetic loop yarn keeps the foot warm, even when wet. The forefoot and heel are reinforced with Polyamide yarn for added strength. Finally, the calf, ankle and instep are elasticated for good support during walking.
The advantages of Merinos wool
Merino wool regulates body temperature and wicks away moisture. These qualities make it ultra-comfortable and soft. What's more, this material naturally limits the proliferation of odor-causing bacteria. In concrete terms, after heavy exertion and perspiration, merino wool absorbs a large part of this body moisture, preventing evaporation and maintaining body temperature. The unpleasant cooling effect is thus limited.
Why should you choose a sock size that matches your foot size?
It's important to choose a sock size that's right for your foot, to avoid any extra folds: if the sock is too big, there'll be too much material around your foot and you won't feel comfortable at all, and if the sock is too small, it'll be "dragged" towards the inside of the shoe, which can lead to rubbing, pain and even blisters at the end of your outing.
And what about elastane?
These high socks are made with 2% elastane for a better fit on the foot. We use elastane because it allows the socks to adapt to your foot and stay in place.
How do you wash your Merinos wool socks?
We recommend that you machine-wash these Merino wool socks at 30°, normal cycle, preferably with a liquid detergent. Dry flat, NEVER tumble dry, unless you want to lose a size or two!
