If your shoe is waterproof to protect you from the rain, you won't make the same choice; you'll need a sock that wicks away perspiration and keeps it as far away from your foot as possible.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT HEIGHT FOR YOUR HIKING SOCKS
This model comes in 2 different heights. Mid" socks protect your malleoli, stopping just above the calf, and are ideal for use with low-shaft hiking boots. High" socks are ideal for medium- or high-shaft hiking boots, as they stop just below the calf and completely cover your ankle.
