Shoe care
These warm, waterproof shoes are made mostly of polyester, with a few inserts of full-grain leather. A little waterproofing spray will keep them water-repellent on the outside of the shoe. Be sure to dry them each time you take them out, upright and away from the fireplace or radiator.
1/ Dust the shoes with a brush. Use soap and water if necessary.
2/ Spray with waterproofing spray. Nikwax
Waterproofing
Because it's much better to keep your feet dry throughout your outing! But it's also the #1 flaw in off-trail shoes. So the design team is working hard on this problem. Here we've added a waterproof and breathable membrane under the upper, which blocks water (rain, dew...) but not perspiration. And we've tested it in the lab, with 50,000 submerged flexes, i.e. around 20 km or 8 hours walking, with no water ingress.
Heat
To ensure your comfort in all weather conditions, and especially when it's cold, our design team has used the best insulating components on the market: Thinsulate from 3M. With 800g of insulating layer under the waterproof membrane, your feet stay warm even in temperatures below -10/-15°C.
Be sure to cover your head and neck, where 40% of the human body's heat escapes. Warm feet start with warm tops.
Hook, Hold
To go anywhere, on rough terrain, you need a good sole. Our engineering team relied on the experts at VIBRAM. Excellent grip on dry and wet terrain, as well as on snow and ice. Beware of wet rocks, all equipment has its limits.
With an 8-inch (20.3cm) shaft, your ankles are well supported but not hindered, and snow will not easily enter the shoe.
