TECHNICAL INFORMATION

OUTDOORCONTACT© adhesion

The grip of our soles is labelled.
To qualify, the shoe must pass laboratory tests to define the grip coefficient on different surfaces (smooth, rough, dry, wet).
To approve these tests, we have the quality of our soles evaluated in the field, while hiking, by a representative panel of testers over 500 km.
The soles of these shoes have obtained a grip score of 5/5 and are labelled OUTDOORCONTACT©.

Designed for touring use

Our hiking boots are designed for use on footpaths. In fact, we select and test the sole and upper components of our shoes to ensure they are ideally suited to hiking on soft trails (such as dirt forest paths) or mineral trails (such as rocky coastal paths). Use on roads (asphalt) can accelerate wear and discomfort. They are not suitable for mountain hiking.

Resistance tests

Laboratory tests are also carried out to validate the following elements: eyelet and strap pull-off, gluing, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion of sole and upper components, accelerated ageing. These tests enable us to improve the quality of our products and prevent premature wear of our hiking boots.

Caring for your leather shoes

After your hikes, we recommend :
- Leave to dry away from a source of heat
- On well-dried leather, brush vigorously with a hard brush to remove mud and dirt
- Use a crepe or nubuck brush to remove stains
- If stains remain, clean with a brush and a little lukewarm water
- Leave to dry
- Brush again with a hard brush
- Spray with waterproofing : this will give shine to the leather and liveliness to the color.

Which material and which pair of socks go with the NH500 shoe?

Moisture has to be managed as effectively as possible when you're out and about: perspiration is often unavoidable. The NH500 shoe is breathable and will evacuate moisture from your perspiration. So you need to choose a lightweight, breathable sock, too. You'll want to choose Hike 100 low or mid socks. They contain moisture-absorbing cotton and have a loop construction that wicks moisture away from your feet. High enough to protect your ankle from the shoe.

TESTS

Our global design center Quechua is based in Passy, at the foot of Mont-Blanc in Haute Savoie.
This location makes it a real meeting place for our teams (designers, product managers, engineers...) and outdoor sports enthusiasts.
It's a great opportunity to design quality products for your hikes, and to bring you all our expertise.

Approved by

In order to meet your requirements, Quechua products are tested in the wild, in the conditions you may encounter on your hikes.
Our teams, along with a panel of female testers (made up of partners, ambassadors and customers) test the products throughout their development right up to the point of marketing. These shoes were approved in April 2018 by a group of female testers during a day hike on the GR34 coastal trail in Brittany.
