The xt8 men's trail running shoe: Grip, grip, or both?
Good grip prevents your soles from skidding on soft ground (greasy or dry). Grip prevents slipping on hard ground (wet or dry).
Thanks to their 5 studs mm spaced to expel mud more easily, your xt8 trail shoes bite into the ground and outperform on heavy terrain.
With their new rubber, your soles won't slip, even on wet rocks!
Soft cushioning with our Kalensole EVA foam
At Decathlon, we use Kalensole, an EVA foam used in the midsole of running shoes. This exclusive composition offers a 34% improvement in cushioning, +25% energy return, greater stability to temperature changes and greater durability. Your joints are protected from shock and the risk of injury is reduced.
A shoe that adapts to all types of terrain... and all types of stride!
A trail running shoe adapted to your stride is essential if you want to run long distances without injuring yourself or enduring your session. Kalenji has developed its exclusive K-Only concept incorporating a denser foam under the first metatarsal to suit all stride types and provide good cushioning.
Lightweight shoes that support you during your trail run.
Running in the great outdoors for many hours requires maximum support. That's why we've added a PU strip welded to the mesh on the back and sides of the shoe to fully surround your foot and hold the ankle. So when you pull on your laces, your running shoe completely surrounds your foot, offering optimum support.
The XT8, an optimized design for successful trails
Versatility, grip and support have been combined to make the XT8 trail running shoe a high-performance item:
- A pocket on the tongue for storing laces
- 315 g in size 42, for an ever-lighter pair of shoes suitable for body weights up to 90 kg.
- A sole with a drop of 8 mm to maintain a natural stride
- A lining covering the entire inside down to the toes, for a waterproof and comfortable shoe during trails.
A range of shoes tested to last
Thanks to your feedback, we've improved our trail shoe to give you the best possible experience. We've developed a new rubber sole for extra grip. Our passionate trailers then put them to the test in real-life conditions over a 6-month period, on a daily basis and on all types of terrain. The result? In addition to its exceptional grip and support, the XT8 will last you up to 1,000 km!
Choosing the right running shoe size
If you're a trail runner, don't hesitate to choose a size larger than your usual shoe size, to ensure optimum comfort on the descent and prevent your toes from banging against the ground. Tip: keep your toenails short and, before going downhill, check that your lacing prevents your foot from sliding forward.
Buying advice and fitting
Try both shoes standing up, with the socks you use on your trail outings. Test several models and sizes if necessary. Two points of comfort should be checked: heel support and forefoot support on downhill runs. Don't hesitate to jog around the store. Use your shoes gradually on your first trail outings to get them to fit your feet, before you really get going on longer outings.
