Durably waterproof
The team designed the MW500 around a waterproof membrane liner. It goes all the way round the shoe. Careful attention has also been paid to detail, with a "gutter" linking the upper to the tongue, for example, to prevent water from penetrating the inside of the shoe.
The MW500 is waterproof by design, not by surface treatment. It will therefore remain waterproof throughout its life, not just during initial use.
A 3-piece sole
When you consider the importance of good footing in golf, it's essential to design a good sole to offer golfers the best possible connection with the ground.
we have reconciled grip, comfort and durability. In temperate weather, the ground can be dry or wet. That's why our engineers have developed a 3-piece sole:
The rubber part
The TPU part offers excellent grip on greasy ground
The EVA midsole ensures exceptional comfort when walking.
Dictated by the constraints of swing
Sophie, a footwear product engineer, worked with the Sportslab teams. They defined the study to be carried out in order to specify, on the one hand, the pressure zones by level of intensity, and on the other hand, the orientation of these stresses during a golf swing, for the left and right foot.
Down to the smallest detail
We designed an asymmetrical sole, with each spike responding to a precise function: length, width, height - no two are exactly alike! They are also distributed over the surface of the sole to correspond to the pressure zones during walking and swinging. This work on the studs guarantees excellent grip while limiting wear.
The outsole is also perforated to increase flexibility and save weight.
The comfort of eva
The Inesis MW500 shoes are extremely comfortable. As we've seen, this is due to the flexibility and suppleness of the rubber outsole, but also to the cushioning properties of the EVA foam midsole. This is a component widely found in running shoes. We benefit from all the expertise of Decathlon's running and trail brand engineers, who have developed exclusive EVA formulas.
A more dynamic stem
Whereas they started with a blank sheet of paper to design the Inesis Grip Waterproof, this time Erik and Tanguy were able to draw on the design of the previous version to design the stem of the Inesis MW500.
The idea was to keep the identity codes of the Inesis Grip Waterproof while adding more dynamism to the lines and greater comfort in use. The forefoot is now built in a single piece for greater flexibility. And then there's everything that can't be seen.
Tested in all conditions
Having testers all over France, and starting the test in the middle of winter, means we can push the MW500 to its limits, confronting it with more demanding conditions than those for which it was designed. MW500s also come up against a wide variety of routes and terrains: mud, sand, rain, dry land, etc. The real life of a versatile golf shoe!
