Made in Europe
European manufacturing 100% of our shoes Forclaz are made in Europe
These TREK shoes are made in the European Union, in Romania, in a factory specialized in the production of trekking shoes.
This Rekord factory uses exclusively water-based glues, without chemical solvents.
The majority of materials are of European origin.
What type of trail is this shoe designed for?
The program for this trekking shoe, the route generally takes place at high altitude or in isolated, steep sites, the itinerary on trail, or sometimes off trail, often steep, with vertiginous passages.
Passages over scree, névés, vertical drops often exceeding 1000 meters, stages exceeding 5 hours' walking.
Advantages of the locking hook
Effectively dissociate the lacing of the lower and upper parts
This allows you to adjust the lacing to the shape of your foot and give your ankle more or less freedom. To lock this first tightening of the lower part, tie a simple knot at instep level, or use your shoe's blocker.
All our trekking shoes offer this option.
The grip and adherence of our soles are ensured by VIBRAM® Technology.
Our VIBRAM®-labeled soles offer excellent grip on all types of terrain, wet or dry, dirt or rock.
Its notched treads will also give you the grip you need on wet or greasy ground
"narrow-width sole" for precision on difficult terrain. It won't bend easily, so it's ready to take on the toughest terrain. A sole block designed for long, technical and committed hikes.
Matryx® Technology / Why? ULTRA-RESISTANT, highly technical fabric woven with genuine FR know-how.
The upper part of the upper collar features Matryx® EVO, a Jacquard fabric with integrated lining. A technical composite of a PU 550dtex-coated PA warp and a PU 550dtex-coated PA weft. A PES 167dtex lining
Aramid yarns throughout the upper for good support

What is S3P / SYTEME 3 POINTS? An effective solution for optimum ankle support.
S3P / This is a 3-point adjustment system, with the top of the laces connected to the sole and heel. This ensures an optimum balance between fit, flexibility and support. This system enables automatic adjustment of heel and instep wedging during descent or ascent, without unnecessarily blocking ankle freedom.
Lacing system with integrated Micro Pulley
Micro Pulley lacing system,
It consists of 2 metal elements (metal alloy + zinc) obtained by die-casting. The central pulley is made of brass.
This system protects the lace from abrasion and cuts.
Mechanically, these features allow better repair of the pressure exerted on the foot and ensure precise, gradual tightening.
HDry® technology
Thanks to the HDry® quality standard, shoes built with this system offer the highest levels of waterproofing, breathability and insulation. The waterproof/breathable membrane is firmly laminated to the inside of the shoe, with no seams or gaps for water to penetrate. The ultra-thin waterproof membrane and unique lamination method enable a precise fit and keep your shoes dry and light all day long.
How waterproof is this shoe?
This shoe has been validated on the waterproofing test at 50,000 repeatable flexes, i.e. 20 km - 8 hours of walking in water up to mid-stem, which today guarantees an excellent level of waterproofing for the shoes.
--> Our evaluation indicates a LEVEL OF 4 /5
Details of the tests carried out to evaluate the waterproofing of our shoes can be found a little further down in the specifications.
Is it possible to use crampons with this trekking boot?
This model of trekking boot has been specially designed to allow the use of STRAP CRAMPONS ONLY. Its stiffness has been adapted to provide sufficient rigidity for optimal use of strap crampons, while guaranteeing excellent walking comfort.

Why choose a leather model? Advantages and disadvantages
Advantages: very supple, resistant and naturally waterproof: it prevents water from penetrating the shoe by repelling and absorbing it.
Leather is breathable (natural pores in the leather skin), but less so than synthetic shoes in hot weather. To overcome this problem, nubuck leather is more breathable, but also more sensitive to rain.
Disadvantages: it needs to be nourished, moisturized and treated to maintain its waterproofing properties.
How to prolong waterproofing? It's also a question of accessories! and a little elbow grease!
For leather, we recommend using a waterproof grease to nourish the leather to prevent it from drying out (cracking), to WATERPROOF it and to protect it from stains.

How to care for your leather shoes: 6 steps to follow
1/ Remove the laces, to avoid getting grease all over the laces
2/ Dry-brush to remove dust and any particles stuck to the leather. Indispensable if you don't want this dirt to stick with a new layer of grease.
3/Grease the leather with a brush, to get the grease deep into all the seams, gaps
4/Wipe off excess grease with a soft cloth.
5/Gently rub to "shine"
6/ Put the laces back on! ;)
Waterproof boot or gaiter? it doesn't have to be one or the other! it's a real additional protection.
Waterproof footwear is often compromised by water intrusion through the top of the shoe.
--> To keep feet dry for longer, we recommend using a waterproof gaiter or mini-gaiter to protect the top of the shoe from water intrusion, as well as from stones and sand

How do I waterproof my leather shoes with a water-repellent reactivator?
Rain and humidity, contrary to popular belief, are far from harmless. As they fall, drops of water absorb and accumulate any pollution or dirt on their path, and can damage the leather of your shoes.
AEROSOL DEPERLANCE RE-ACTIVATOR FOR SHOES, TEXTILES AND EQUIPMENT / 5€ (ref. 640816)
5 levels of waterproofing
In the waterproof test, we test 5 levels of waterproofness:
2,000 flexes (approx. 4 km ,30 min walk)
10,000 flexes (approx. 10 km ,3 hours walk)
30,000 flexes (approx. 15 km ,6 hours walk)
50,000 flexes (approx. 20 km ,8 hours walk)
100,000 flexes (approx. >20 km ,24 hours walk)
Waterproof test
Our shoes are tested in the laboratory using two consecutive tests
Test 1 / We test the effectiveness of the membrane alone by immersing it in water under air pressure, simply checking for the absence of bubbles at the surface "like a punctured inner tube".
Test 2 / Using a mechanical arm to simulate walking, the entire shoe is half immersed in water and flexed thousands of times to check that the inside of the shoe remains dry and therefore waterproof.
