Slim, aerodynamic and tough
The Edge 1040 solar adopts a new design, slightly longer by 3 millimetres, to achieve a sleeker, more aerodynamic device.
Its 130g composite case incorporates a much more robust ¼-turn aluminum mount, to resist repeated vibrations on rough terrain such as mountain biking or gravel.
Enhanced user interface
Complete redesign of the user interface to ensure smoother, more intuitive access to data and functions. The structure is based around widgets and a single main menu.
The device's configuration and connected functions have also been simplified (no more dual BT pairing, for example).
LARGE COLOR TOUCHSCREEN
High-definition color screen, identical to that of the Edge 1040.
Measuring 3.5", or 8.89 cm diagonal (282 x 470 pixels), it is transflective and capacitive. As a result, it adapts perfectly to outdoor lighting conditions, and the touchscreen works perfectly when wearing gloves or in the rain.

Determines the athlete's capacity and thus enables preparation planning. This analysis is based on VO2 Max and FTP data, as well as anaerobic, aerobic and aerobic endurance capacities, and explains the type of work to be done to progress.

Enter your training goals, free days, activity level and available sensors to obtain a free, customized training plan directly from Edge. This training plan can be linked to a specific event, such as the Gran Fondo, Cyclosportives, Etape du tour etc., and thus obtain a customized plan over 30 weeks or more, including all phases of preparation (general preparation (foncier), specific work and sharpening.

When a workout is missed, the focus is on priority workouts, instead of offering a lower-priority workout scheduled for that day. In the plan, these workouts are marked "key" or "long"
Workouts are proposed with power or heart rate targets. The aim of this function is to provide advice to cyclists who are not following a specific training plan and who want to progress.

Power guide:
Manage your efforts with the power guide function, which recommends power targets throughout a course.
Real-time endurance level - STAMINA
The real-time endurance level function - Stamina - tracks and helps athletes manage their physical effort throughout an event. It displays energy consumption and enables athletes to avoid "running out of fuel", by starting out too quickly on their events.

ClimbPro function:
Automatically displays the climbs on a route, specifying the % gradient and the number of km remaining to the summit. Perfect for better effort management.

Nutrition and hydration:
The Edge also records nutrition and hydration data according to heat, altitude, heart rate and power to provide specific alerts during activity.
EBIKE FUNCTIONS
Before the trip: the intelligent algorithm uses elevation data embedded in the map, as well as user and bike data, to display a distance indication in route planning.
During the trip: indication of a dynamic range based on the e-bike's actual battery consumption, with dedicated alerts to the user in the event of battery level problems.
After the trip: eBike battery level / consumption report
SECURITY FUNCTIONS (1)
Incident detection and assistance request*
Manually or in the event of a fall, Edge sends its 3 emergency contacts, GPS position and a message requesting assistance. These functions require connection with a smartphone.

Makes it easier for friends and family to follow cycling outings.
The new version of LiveTrack lets you share your planned route, so that those following at a distance can see where the cyclist has been and where he or she is going.

New - Full Varia compatibility
See and be seen and record what's coming up behind you with Varia Radar - Informs cyclists of approaching vehicles behind them ("see") - 8 vehicles up to 140 meters away and increases drivers' vigilance of cyclists on the road ("be seen").
The RCT 715 version captures and stores images before, during and after events if it detects an incident.
