TECHNICAL INFORMATION

TECHNICAL FEATURES OF VERTIKA ROPE

They are measured and validated in the laboratory, by a certification body, in accordance with EN 892:
Number of falls: 6
Impact force: 8.4 KN
Sheath percentage: 35.4%
Dynamic elongation: 30.9%
Static elongation: 5%
Sheath slippage: 1mm

To define the number of falls, the standard protocol is much stricter than reality. The drop factor used is very high: 1.77. Under normal conditions, the drop factor is much lower.

THE WEIGHT OF THE VERTIKA ROPE

The weight is 58 g/m.
This is an excellent compromise between lightness and strength.

The weight is measured in accordance with EN 892.
For a single rope, the rope must be put under a tension of 10 kg for 1 min under very precise temperature and humidity conditions.
As a result, the actual weight of the rope is often greater than the weight stated in the standard.
But the standard does allow ropes to be compared objectively.

HOW IS VERTIKA ROPE ENGINEERED FOR LONG-LASTING PERFORMANCE?

Our designers have reinforced the sheath's strength by densifying it (48 spindles) and knitting it with a smoother structure to reduce friction.
The core and sheath are retracted together using a plasma process. This provides more binding between them and guarantees the rope's fluidity over time.
Caution: fluidity can make this rope difficult to brake for beginners in belaying. We also recommend regularly checking that the knot is properly tightened.

VERTIKA ROPE HAS MID-ROPE MARKING

To improve your safety, Vertika ropes are marked in black to indicate the middle of the rope.
We always recommend checking the length of the route before climbing, and tying a knot at the end of the rope.

POSSIBLE EVOLUTION OF VERTIKA ROPE LENGTH OVER TIME

All climbing ropes shrink with age. This generally ranges from 2 to 5%, but can be as much as 10% depending on humidity, heat, falls, washing, etc. To minimize this effect, we provide an extra length margin in production, but we recommend that you measure your rope regularly and check the location of the marking in the middle of the rope.

VERTIKA ROPE IS MADE IN FRANCE

All our ropes are designed and tested at our headquarters in Chamonix in the Mont Blanc valley.
They are manufactured in Northern France by our partner factory Cousin, experts in textile braiding for 170 years.

HOW TO WASH YOUR VERTIKA ROPE?

It is essential to maintain your rope to limit wear and tear. Dirt ages rope.
We recommend:
1- Use a rope bag at the foot of the routes.
2- If the rope is sale, wash it with clear, lukewarm water.
If stains persist and you want to clean them with soap, use a neutral soap, such as Marseille soap, and rinse thoroughly with clear water afterwards.
3- Dry the rope in the open air and in the shade, away from any source of heat.

HOW TO STORE VERTIKA ROPE

Rope should be stored away from light, moisture, chemicals and heat. Be careful not to leave it inside a car in midsummer, for example.

HOW TO CONTROL YOUR VERTIKA STRING?

It's important to check your rope regularly. To do this, slide your hands over the rope and look closely, metre by metre, at the entire length of the rope. This will enable you to spot any cuts, nicks, abrasions or soft spots on the rope. If you notice any of these anomalies or irregularities, if the core is visible in certain places, if it is deformed or has been subject to too many falls, it should no longer be used.
