The Score 500, a design story
The story of the Score 500 shoe began three years ago. We wanted to offer rugby players a good shoe that was comfortable, resistant and light, and that met the demands of their level of play. Our design team teamed up with ambassadors, Decathlon employees with a passion for rugby, to come up with this shoe.
Your comfort is our priority
To design the Score 500, we focused on one key area: your comfort. "Using a scanner, we measured the feet of over 700 rugby players, both children and adults, from the Lille area. We realized that rugby players' feet are on average one size bigger than the average European foot," explains Anthony, Product Engineer. Plan on an extra size to make room for the thick sock and the natural swelling of the foot during practice.
A shoe that combines lightness and strength
"Make a shoe that's as light as possible, but still strong. That's the challenge Anthony, our product engineer, set himself. The result is a shoe that's tapered, shaped and designed in a single piece to guarantee that lightweight feel. Resistance, meanwhile, is provided by small inserts on each side and a rigid sole, allowing you to take to the field with confidence.
Touch of the ball
Made from a fine material, the Score 500 gives you a second-skin effect.
The ball feel is enhanced by the textured material on the forefoot, which gives you a feeling of grip on the ball when you strike it.
