Impact 500, a design story
"The story of the Impact 500 shoe began three years ago. With the desire to offer regular rugby players a good, comfortable, resistant shoe that meets the requirements of their level of practice. Our design team teamed up with ambassadors, Decathlon employees and rugby enthusiasts, to come up with this shoe. After three years' work and more than a dozen prototypes, we are delighted to offer you this shoe.
Your comfort is our priority
To design this shoe, we focused on one key area: your comfort. "Using a scanner, we measured the feet of over 700 rugby players, both children and adults, from the Lille area. We realized that rugby players' feet are on average one size larger than the average European foot," explains Raphaël, product engineer at Décathlon. We used this research to design a shoe last that would guarantee optimum comfort.
A shoe designed with professionals in mind
While we imagined this shoe with our employees, we also worked hand-in-hand with professional players, playing in the Top 14. Players with high standards and a relevant approach to product development. As a result, the Impact 500 has successfully passed the usage tests carried out by expert players at regional, federal, national and pro level.

With its chubby, robust and hard-wearing forefoot, this shoe offers optimum protection against potential blows. Additional inserts on the sides create a shield effect, further guaranteeing your safety. The rigid sole maintains solid support during the pushing phase.
