A compensated second floor, easier breathing
The first stage of the SUBEA 500 diving regulator is made of chrome-plated brass and features a compensated piston. The average pressure received by the second stage is constant, keeping the regulator's performance constant throughout the dive. The SCD 500 regulator is equipped with a pivoting turret for easy orientation of the hoses around the head. There are 2 high-pressure outlets (HP - 7/16") and 4 medium-pressure outlets (LP - 3/8").
The second floor and easier inspiration
The second stage of the regulator must transpose natural breathing behavior into a mechanical reality. Its high quality significantly reduces stress, helping to improve diver safety by supplying air more easily and in sufficient quantity, without the need for superfluous effort.
The hydrodynamic openings in the hood make breathing in easier. This exclusive hood design also eliminates the need for continuous flow from the regulator.
Exhalation: greater visibility and less noise
During exhalation, ergonomic whiskers channel the flow of air bubbles to the cheeks, so that the noise doesn't disturb the diver and the bubbles don't pass in front of the mask. Less discomfort during practice and more pleasure in the activity!
SUBEA regulators: exclusive anatomical mouthpiece!
The exclusive shape of this mouthpiece was developed in conjunction with orthodontists, and makes it easier to hold in the mouth thanks to the palate fins, lingual support and different material thicknesses and densities (mono or bi-density), taking into account the angle of jaw closure. The SCD 500 mouthpiece is bi-density, meaning that the area in contact with the gums is softer than the rest of the mouthpiece to limit irritation.
Regulator certification
This regulator is certified to EN250:2014. Tests carried out by RINA, Genova- Italia (certified body no. 0474). Tests are carried out on a breathing machine that simulates the diver's breathing. Tests are carried out at the pressure equivalent to 50 meters depth, with a ventilatory amplitude of 2.5 liters (inspiration/expiration), a ventilatory flow rate of 62.5 liters/minute, i.e. 25 cycles per minute, and at a temperature of 10°C or 4°C for cold water.
Certification and ventilatory effort measurements
SUBEA SCD 500 regulators feature a compensated first stage and are certified for use in non-cold water (temperature above +10°C). The DIN regulator is certified for 300 bar.
Results of ventilatory effort certification tests (pressure simulation at 50 m and water at 8°C)
- block pressure from 50 to 200 bar: 1.4 J/L.
Ventilatory effort is the measure of the energy (in joules) expended to obtain 1 liter of ventilation.
Weight and hose length
First stage weight: 750 grams.
Second stage weight: 200 grams.
Hose weight: 150 grams.
Hose length: 75 cm.
Maintenance tips
Never use solvents or hydrocarbon-based products to clean or lubricate your regulator yourself. Never use aerosol cans, as the propellants may attack plastics.
Regulator overhaul
SUBEA recommends that you have your regulator serviced every two years, and visually inspected at least once a year. Both checks should be carried out by a certified workshop SUBEA. An overhaul is also recommended after a particularly intense season (over 100 dives) or after a long period of inactivity.
