Time and conditions for water heating
Heating time depends on a number of factors: initial water temperature, outside temperature, type of floor (concrete, grass, etc.), wind, sun, etc. To speed up heating, increase the surface area exposed to the sun by laying down the non-inflated shower. You can also use hot water directly, but be careful not to exceed 50°C, as this could damage the product's components or be dangerous for you.
Directions for use
To promote temperature build-up, expose the shower to the sun between midday and 6pm. We don't recommend placing it behind a car windshield; our tests have shown that the water can exceed 70°C. Note that the temperature drops as soon as the sun fades. When you pressurize, a noise sounds at the valve to indicate maximum pressure: pump again when the pressure drops during use.
Design team tests - standing shower
Here are our temperature readings after a heating test on the standing shower exposed to the sun. Test carried out on an afternoon in mid-June in the south of France.
Shower positioned upright, pressurized and filled to maximum water level (10L).
Average outside temperature 25°C, almost no wind, solar power 750 W/M². Initial water temperature: 22°C.
In 3 hours, water temperature rose from 22°C to 30°C.
In 5 hours, water temperature rose from 22°C to 35°C.
In 6 hours 48 minutes, water temperature rose from 22°C to 38°C.
Design team tests - supine shower
You can improve water heating by increasing the surface area exposed to the sun: lay the shower horizontally on a table or on the floor. Under the same conditions as the standing test, performance will be improved.
Water temperature indicator
We've added a water temperature indicator. This starts at 30°C and goes up to 40°C. In all cases, it's advisable to run a little water before showering to check that the water isn't too hot.
Water visibility
We've added a window so you can see the remaining water level.
Don't throw it away, fix it!
