How is fabric waterproofness measured?
We measure a fabric's resistance to water pressure expressed in mm water column (test based on ISO 811). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. The fabric of the 900 WARM down jacket has a waterproof rating of 15,000mm, which means it can withstand the pressure of 15,000mm of water.
For skiing, we recommend fabrics ranging from 3,000mm to 20,000mm.
How should you dress to stay warm on the slopes?
To stay warm and dry, simply apply the 3-layer rule:
- Layer 1, or second skin, to keep you dry.
- Layer 2, or insulating layer, to keep you warm.
- Layer 3, or protective layer, to protect you from the elements.
As the 900 Warm jacket is very warm, we recommend wearing it with layer 2 only in very cold weather.
How is the comfort temperature measured?
We test each of our products in the laboratory to give you an indicative comfort value. This is measured without tights for pants, and with a thermal T-shirt and fleece for jackets. The measurement indicated is that of the outside temperature at which the testers felt neither hot nor cold. This feeling differs, of course, according to the intensity of the activity, but also according to each individual's metabolism.
