TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Product contents

The foil is supplied in a rucksack bag with the following items:
- One-piece foil plane (carbon & rubber): front wing 1200, side spars and stabilizer.
- Aluminum fuselage
- 2 aluminum masts with soft edges: 1 mast 35 cm and 1 mast 55 cm.
- 1 aluminum plate
- 1 M8 Torx screw kit, with wrench => assembly + foil/board attachment (US). For each type of screw, 1 additional part is supplied.
- 1 set of instructions to be read before first use.

This foil has many features that optimize your safety (and that of those around you) during practice:

- The soft leading edge absorbs 8 times more shocks (external lab test).
- The soft edges at the rear of the foil as well as at the front and rear of the mast are validated as "non-cutting" (external lab test).
- The side spars avoid access to the non-flexible sharp edges, allowing gradual take-off and improved stability.
- This is a "low-speed" foil for rapid take-off and controlled acceleration. This is a "low-speed" foil for fast take-off and controlled acceleration.
- The small mast allows gradual, easy take-off.

Which board to use this foil with?

For the best possible introduction to foiling, we recommend using the 6-foot OLAIAN foil board, specially designed for quick learning: easy rowing, stability, gradual take-off.
However, this foil can be attached to any foil board fitted with double US housings (9cm apart), via its universal plate.
M8 mounting screws are supplied with the brass squares.
The holes in the plate have a center-to-center distance of 9cm widthwise and
13.5cm lengthwise.

What kind of spots are suitable for foil surfing? Traditional surf spots are not always suitable.

A good foiling spot is characterized by the presence of waves advancing over a bottom too large for them to break.
The take-off zone should have a few breaking peaks to help catch the wave and then move away from the foam as you ride the wave. The foil is not designed for surfing foams, only waves, and that's the whole point. It allows you to surf away from other "classic" surfers, which is essential for everyone's safety.

What conditions are right for surfing foil and SUP foil?

Foiling requires a good level of surfing or traditional SUP.

An expert level of surfing is required: autonomy in spot selection, weather conditions and associated risks. The ability to read the wave, anticipate the evolution of other surfers and master basic surfing maneuvers (speed, carves and cut backs) are required for safe and responsible surfing.
Respect for the rules of priority and good conduct is a prerequisite.
Use of a leash is imperative.

Foiling remains a dangerous sport. Many precautions must be taken.

The use of a neoprene wetsuit, helmet, booties and impact vest is strongly recommended.
Although this foil has features that can reduce the risk of injury, foiling remains a dangerous sport, and many precautions must be taken when learning it. We strongly recommend that you learn foiling with a specialist instructor.
Carefully read the instructions provided (keep them) and comply with all applicable regulations.

Key tips for learning to foil surf 1/2.

In addition to supervised training, here are a few tips to get you started:
- In the initiation phase, use the small mast to familiarize yourself with the foil. This takes up less space and avoids getting stuck in the water if the foil comes out of the water.
- Place the mast as far back as possible.
- When catching a wave, choose a wave with a medium slope or a foam that fades away.
- From the take-off onwards, the feet should be placed along the central batten, with the rear foot above the mast.

Key tips for learning to foil surf (continued) 2/2

- On take-off, exaggerate the weight on the front foot, then progressively transfer the weight to the back foot to take off.
- As soon as you take off, put the weight back on the front foot to stabilize the board.
- Lock the ankles to keep the board as flat as possible.
- Look towards the horizon and where you want to go. Look towards the horizon and where you want to go.
- In the event of a fall, always step away from the foil and never jump forwards (always backwards and to the sides), protecting your face and head with your arms.

The versatility and uniqueness of hydrofoils: how to choose the right foil for your needs.

Foils have opened up new disciplines on the water: Kitefoil, Surf foil, SUPfoil, Wing foil, windfoil, e-foil...
Its compatibility with several disciplines depends on the foil's lift, mast size and speed range.
Although Wing foil use is possible, it is not recommended with the M size due to its low lift, which requires over-canopy.
Similarly, the 55cm mast is too short to be recommended for kite foil.

To keep your foil in good condition, you need to take good care of it. Bicycle grease (8751269) to be purchased separately!

From the first use, grease the screws with bike grease and repeat between each session. This 125ML tube of grease can be purchased separately (less than 10€).
Dismantle the foil completely after each use. If this is not done, corrosion could freeze the screws and prevent disassembly. This would not be covered by the warranty.
Always store the foil flat, and never place it vertically on its rear side, as this could deform the soft edge.
