Flapping wings powered by the wind
Our new 520 shape is based on our 3D 500 shape (same color palette, same volumetry), to which we've added a tail and flapping wings.
What's the point of having flapping wings?
Increase realism and attractiveness: when the wind blows, however lightly, these wings move and undulate, to imitate a bird coming to land. This effect makes it easier for goshawks to spot the shape from further away.
Wings and tail: a specific design to increase the efficiency of the shape
When designing the wings and tail, we took into account the importance of the color white on the plumage, as this is a key element in increasing the realism of the blettes. As are the different shades of gray, black and blue. Our designers have also focused on the contours of the lines to ensure an effect as close as possible to real pigeon plumage.
In practical terms, how do these wings work in the wind?
The wings are positioned on the sides of the shape by means of two springs on each side. This feature increases the sensitivity of the wings to the wind. Even in a light breeze, the wings move, making it possible to imitate flight for longer.
The component used is EVA foam. Why?
It's a flexible material that resists abrasion well. Finally, the thickness of the wings and tail (2.5mm) offer the best compromise between weight and movement.
A versatile shape with two possible positions thanks to the integrated clip-on stem.
On the top of our 520 pigeon form with flapping wings, we've kept the 2 holes present on the 500 and 900 velvet forms: so you can always choose between 2 positions thanks to the integrated stem. The rod fits neatly under the form (no need to carry the parts separately and risk losing the rod).
Realism of form: an essential factor for all pigeon-hunting enthusiasts
When hunting wood pigeons by air, it's vital that the ground set-up is as massive, complete and realistic as possible to fool the goshawks. Thanks to the realism and movement of this shape, the package formed (to be placed beak to windward in particular) maximizes your chances of attracting them. The paint used imitates the bird's colors as closely as possible, and is also resistant to damage from sunlight, rain, sand and rubbing.
High-quality, weather-resistant paint: the big plus of this shape
In a field of wheat, maize, rapeseed or anywhere else, this "mute" is frighteningly effective. Why is that? Not least because of the high-quality paint used, combined with a flaming step to extend the product's lifespan. To make your shapes last longer, we've chosen a resistant paint designed to withstand the vagaries of weather, transport and storage conditions.
A bag for transporting and storing your shape and accessories
When you leave for the post, often on foot, you're loaded down with numerous accessories: rifle, carriage, chaff... In woodpigeon hunting, it's not uncommon to carry 15, 20, 30 or even more forms. That's why we've worked on a carry bag that makes it easy to store the 520 shape. This bag, which opens and closes via a flap and 2 Velcro fasteners, is designed with just 1 compartment to store the chard, wings and tail.
How to place shapes on the floor?
There are 3 main factors to take into account: the wind direction, the direction of arrival of the pigeons, and the positioning of your post. Several hitching positions are possible, but if conditions are ideal (the wind is blowing at your back and the pigeons are arriving head-on), then place the forms 20-25m from your hut, drawing a wide "U" on the ground so that the woodpigeons come to rest in the middle, placing the forms with movement at the entrance to the hitch.
Increase your chances of attracting goshawks with these tips
To further enhance the realism of your carriage, we recommend you complete it with our 100 hulls, 500 3D and 900 velvet shapes, and movable shapes placed upwind, such as our 920 blette at the entrance to your carriage. Wear camo clothing and don't neglect your carriage! Take a look at our shield mount. Thanks to these tips, you'll be able to spot woodpigeons in the distance, slow down, hover and come down to the landing.
