Nordic walking is practiced with special poles on flat or gently sloping terrain. Single-piece poles will help propel your movement and give your upper body a thorough workout. Hiking is done with adjustable poles, which provide support when climbing and prevent slipping when descending.

Nordic walking is always practised with two poles to promote propulsion. The gauntlets allow you to release and catch the poles without dropping them. Single-pole poles are lightweight and won't shrink during practice. They absorb vibrations, so your joints are spared. The tips of the poles grip the ground and propel you forward.
