How is the operating temperature measured?
Our gloves are laboratory-tested using a thermal hand. Minimum temperatures of use (recommended and limits) are based on a study carried out on a panel of 23 testers in a walking situation exposed to temperatures ranging from 5°C to -20°C and a 10 km/h wind. These temperatures apply to walking conditions only. MT 500 gloves are rated 1 out of 5 for warmth. Recommended temperature: 8°C Limit temperature: 3°C.
How do you protect your hands from the cold?
Just as you wear several layers when dressing for trekking, you can wear under-gloves that act as thermal underwear and windproof over-gloves. This multi-layer system allows air to flow around your hands, effectively insulating them from the cold! Make sure your gloves are large enough to prevent your fingers from being compressed. Compression slows down blood circulation in the fingers.
How can you keep your hands warm with the right clothing?
Your active body generates heat, which is conserved by the thermal insulation provided by your clothing. If your clothing is unsuitable, your body cools down and blood circulation to your extremities (including your hands) is reduced, keeping your chest warm. Your clothing can therefore play a role in keeping your hands as warm as possible.
What is glove dexterity?
A glove's dexterity is its ability to manipulate objects. Our MT500 gloves have been laboratory-tested. The closer the glove's dexterity is to 5, the closer it is to bare-handed handling. For example, with MT500 gloves, we tested the ability to easily put on and open a jacket, handle bivouac objects, drink and eat. The MT500 gloves were rated with a dexterity level of 4 out of 5.
Are these gloves windproof?
MT 500 Stretch gloves are not windproof.
Did you know that wind makes you feel colder? With an outside temperature of 0°C and a wind speed of 20 km/h, the perceived temperature is -10°C. Windproof components help to reduce the cooling effects of wind or the relative speed of sporting activity.
We therefore recommend that you complement your purchase with our MT 500 Waterproof and Windproof Overgloves.
Did your gloves get caught in the rain?
In this case, dry them in a dry place, but avoid placing them on a heat source. This could damage the fiber and deform them!
