Type of vest (Stab/BCD)
The SCD 500B diving stabilizer (stab/BCD) from SUBEA is of the "dorsal" type: the air volume is only in the back. This not only improves balance in the water, but also frees up the arms. No more air volume on the sides, which can impede movement in and out of the water.
The SCD 500B harness is independent of the bladder, so you don't feel the pressure when the vest is inflated.
Ease of use
The vest is equipped with bleeders to limit water ingress into the bladder: a valve positioned under the top and bottom bleeders prevents water from rushing in when the bleeders are activated.
The choice of shape and color of the metallic gray bleeders also makes them easier to grip.
The shape and size of the buckles on the shoulder straps make them easy and precise to adjust.
Ballast system
The SCD 500B vest features two side ballast pockets with quick-release buckles. Capacity: 3kg each.
The vest also features two back pockets (located on the bottle strap) with a capacity of 2kg each.
Accessories for securing and storing equipment
6 carrying rings: 1 anodized 3D ring on the left shoulder, two on the right, 2 anodized 3D rings on the hips and 2 PVC rings on the belly.
Sold with 2 flexible carrying hooks.
The chest strap has an integrated whistle for signaling on the surface.
1 removable accessory pocket that can be repositioned on the right or left to carry small accessories such as a mask, parachute, etc.
Carrying comfort
Available in 2 sizes (S/M and L/XL), the ventral strap is adjustable in length to suit all body sizes: a velcro system on the back allows for adjustment.
For added comfort, the SUBEA design teams have developed reinforced back padding on the back of the stabilizer vests, providing cushioning at the bottle location. The shoulder straps are also reinforced and made of 3D mesh for greater shoulder flexibility.
Sizes and buoyancy
The Subea SCD 500 B vest is available in 2 sizes:
buoyancy S/M=140N (15l steel bottle)
buoyancy L/XL =210N (15l steel bottle)
SUBEA vests comply with EN 1809 : 2014 + A1 2016(latest version of the standard). They have been certified by the INPP (Institut National de Plongée Professionnelle) in Marseille (France).

Maintenance tips
1/Rinse your vest thoroughly with clean water. Pay particular attention to the bleed nipples and inflator. 2/Evacuate any water in the vest by operating the lower bleed valve. Do not store water in the vest's inflatable bladder.
3/Dry your vest on a wide hanger out of direct sunlight.
Inspect your vest yourself every year, looking for any signs of wear. Inflate (by mouth) the inflatable chamber, wait 12 hours and check that it hasn't deflated.
Overhaul of stabilizing jackets
Your stabilizing vest should be inspected and serviced by an authorized SUBEA center at least every two years, and more often if you dive frequently.
