Set-up advice
Obtain the tree owner's agreement before applying the pine tar.
Choose a low-value tree with a minimum diameter of 20 cm, and cut off the lower branches to a height of around one metre. Make a few cuts of 1 to 2 cm horizontally to impregnate the bark. Brush on the tar, starting at the top, and let it run down the trunk.
Summer and winter installation
Pine tar in Jerrican has a pasty viscosity that is easy to spread in summer temperatures.
In winter it can congeal, so we recommend exposing it to a room temperature of 20° the day before application, or placing the bucket in a basin of hot water one hour before application.
