A dobok for beginners in Taekwondo
Unlike judo, taekwondo is a "percussion" combat sport: there's no grabbing of the kimono by the opponent, except in self-defense.
So, to promote the freedom of movement needed for taekwondo movements, we've designed a dobok with a loose fit.
And since this dobok is aimed at the very young, it's made from a twill fabric that's both supple and lightweight: 190 g/m²!
What size should you choose for your child's dobok?
No surprise, the choice of dobok size (from 110 to 150 cm) depends on your child's height!
Doboks are made from cotton/polyester, so they have a natural tendency to shrink by a few centimetres after the first 3 washes. That's why we recommend choosing a dobok 5 to 10 cm larger than your child's height.
For example: if your child is 1.35 m tall, choose a 140 cm dobok.
How to maintain your dobok?
We recommend airing the dobok after each use. And to preserve its white color, remember to wash it regularly.
Our tip? First wash it cold. Then wash at 30°C or below.
And for drying, we strongly advise you to let it air-dry and not to use a tumble-dryer.
