Grammage and composition: we explain
The thickness of a fabric, and therefore its weight, is expressed in grams per square meter. This is called grammage. And if you're going to practice judo, it's better to have a judogi with a resistant fabric that stays in place throughout the grips, but also when it goes through the washing machine!
That's why we've chosen a fabric composed of 65% cotton and 35% polyester: it's more resistant to pulling and washing.
And with its 550 g/m², you benefit from a grammage adapted to confirmed practice!
A collar adapted to your practice:
Judo is a gripping combat sport: you have to grab your opponent's kimono and throw him to the ground. So to make your training easier, we've designed a collar with a wider lapel and an EVA foam hem. That way, you can put your hand on the collar more easily.
And to stay presentable and easily replace your judogi, the front of the collar is curved. The result: your jacket follows the shape of your body and comes to rest naturally in the closed position.
Introducing the Judogi 500 design
We've designed a judogi that's adapted to your practice, so you can progress without constraint: the length of the sleeves, the amplitude in the shoulders and the slim fit at the waist allow you to perform all your movements freely. And with its rice grain and diamond motifs, it follows the aesthetic codes of judo.
And the pants? Stronger at the knees for ground combat, with a traditional drawstring waistband.
Introducing a design team with a passion for martial arts...
Enrique, Laurent, Marie and Louis: 3 black belts between them 4 and the desire to create a judogi adapted to your level and your practice!
And for that, there are designs, prototypes and many tests with the Judo Club of Sainghin, near Lille.
Laurent, product engineer explains: "We wanted a comfortable judogi, in which you feel beautiful, you feel good. This Judogi 500 is the fruit of the work of Marie, our pattern maker, and the exacting standards of Enrique, our product manager."
Enrique, product manager at Outshock, talks about the benefits of judo:
"I come from karate and one thing that has always struck me about judo is this notion of strength and suppleness at the same time. Judokas practice with an elegance that is beautiful to see. I also like the idea that the dojo is much bigger than the place itself: it teaches you a lot about yourself outside its walls. It's these values that I found at Outshock and that we wanted to pass on in our judogis."
How to choose your kimono size?
Your choice of kimono size depends on how tall you are!
Kimono sizes range from 160 to 200 cm, and we recommend that you choose a kimono at least 5 cm taller than you are. For example, if you're 1.74 m tall, choose a 180 cm kimono.
How to care for your kimono
We advise you to air the kimono after each use. And to preserve its white color, wash regularly. Our tip? Wash your kimono cold for the first few washes. And for drying, we strongly advise you to let it air-dry and not to use a tumble-dryer.
