UV protection even when wet.
The fabric used in this UV protection product OLAIAN blocks at least 98% of UVB and 95% of UVA rays (UPF 50+). This guarantees effective protection against the sun. It can be used in and out of the water for water sports. UV filtration is generated by the density of the textile fibers, making this protection long-lasting, even after washing. Please note that the elastane contained in the fiber may deteriorate in chlorinated water.
What does UPF 50+ mean?
UPF is a globally standardized sun protection factor (Ultra Violet Protection Factor). It defines the textile's level of protection, and more precisely the proportion of UV transmission. To meet standards, it must block at least 95% of UV rays. UPF 50+ means that the textile blocks at least 95% of UVA and 98% of UVB rays.
Reduces irritation
These leggings limit friction with the board, particularly at the knees when lying on the board and on the inner thighs when sitting on the board. We have validated that irritation is limited during 1-hour sessions.
Support and stability in waves
The sheathing waistband keeps the leggings in position even if you fall into the waves. The drawstring at the front of the waistband can be used to connect an anti-UV tee shirt to prevent it from riding up. We recommend the use of a top 500 UV protection tee shirt (available in short-sleeve, long-sleeve and hooded) to complement this legging for maximum protection.
Thermicity and wind
The recommended minimum water temperature for this UV protection legging is 22°C. Air temperature may influence this recommendation upwards or downwards. Our thermal models (over 2h) are made of fleece and neoprene. The presence of wind will have an impact that can be annoying as soon as the wind exceeds 15 km/h: in this case, opt for a model with neoprene.
Anti-UV leggings for water sports
Our UV-resistant leggings are designed for the most demanding surfers. Our design choices also make them compatible with other water sports such as swimming, kitesurfing, windsurfing, wakeboarding, waterskiing, active ocean walking (longe-côte) or SUP (stand-up paddle).
Behavior in the sun
Although these leggings provide protection from the sun, phenomena such as reverberation (on water, sand, etc.), heat, time of day, etc. must be taken into account. Wearing leggings doesn't mean you don't need to take appropriate precautions, such as wearing a UV-protective T-shirt, sunglasses, a hat or cap, regular application of a suitable sun cream, and drinking regularly.
