The principle of a self-inflating mattress
A self-inflating mattress consists of a waterproof envelope glued to an open-cell foam in which air circulates. When you unfold your mattress, it takes on its shape and thickness (3 cm for the AG Basic mattress) and fills up with air. However, you'll need to finish inflating it by mouth, which also allows you to adjust the pressure to your comfort level. Self-inflation is more or less perceptible, depending on the thickness of the mattress.
Directions for use
We recommend that you unroll your mattress as soon as you arrive at camp. Leave the valve open to facilitate pre-inflation. A self-inflating mattress inflates itself to around 80%. The rest of the inflation should be done by mouth, to adjust the pressure to your comfort.
Please note: choose your mattress width according to the inside dimensions of your tent.

Thermicity and warmth: winter use possible
Since the beginning of 2020, a new standard has been validated to assess the insulation level of your mattress: ASTM F3340-18 standard.
This standard measures the mattress's ability to retain or reflect your heat back to you to avoid heat loss and therefore provide you with thermal comfort.
Thermal insulation thanks to the foam.

Thermicity and heat (continued)
The R-value expresses the performance and thermal resistance of the mattress. The higher the R-Value, the more your mattress insulates you from the cold coming from the ground.
- R-value from 0 to 1.9: mattress designed for use in the warm season (summer) only
- from 2 to 3: mattress designed for use over 2 or 3 seasons (spring-summer-fall)
- from 3 to 4: so-called 4-season mattress, winter use possible
- over 4.5: winter use and extreme conditions
