What improvements have been made over the old model? (the old model corresponds to code 8396265)
The MT 500 mittens have undergone a series of improvements that we've carried out along the way, thanks to all the customer feedback you've sent us. Thank you for sharing!
Here are the points we've worked on for this new winter 2020 collection:
- it's now easier to put on and take off the mittens, even when wet.
- The inside of the mittens offers a better perception of warmth with a cozy, brushed fleece! A pleasure to put on!
How is the operating temperature measured?
Our gloves are laboratory-tested using a thermal hand. Minimum temperatures of use (recommended and limits) are based on a study carried out on a panel of 23 testers in a walking situation exposed to temperatures ranging from 5°C to -20°C and a wind speed of 10 km/h. These temperatures are valid only in a walking situation. These temperatures apply to walking conditions only.
Trek 500 windproof mittens are rated 3 out of 5 for warmth.
Recommended temperature: -8°C
Temperature limit: -14°C
How do you protect your hands from the cold?
By applying the principle of layering, you can optimize the insulation of your hands. By wearing under-gloves in addition to gloves, several air spaces are created around your hands, effectively insulating them from the cold. For this to work properly, it's important to use gloves that are large enough to prevent your fingers from being compressed and to ensure good blood circulation.
What's in a windproof glove?
These mittens are made from a 100% windproof membrane, ideal for keeping warm in windy conditions.
Did you know that wind makes you feel colder? With an outside temperature of 0°C and a wind speed of 20 km/h, the temperature felt is -10°C. Windproof components help reduce the cooling effects of wind or the relative speed of sporting activity.
Ease of use
A well-equipped mitt:
- wrist strap that can be pulled with the opposite hand for optimal donning,
- strap on middle and ring finger for easy removal of mittens,
- magnet on back of hand to keep mitt part open,
- pairing loop to connect your gloves during transport or storage.
How can you keep your hands warm with the right clothing?
Your active body generates heat, which is conserved by the thermal insulation provided by your clothing. If your clothing is unsuitable, your body cools down and blood circulation to your extremities (including your hands) is reduced, keeping your chest warm. Your clothing can therefore play a role in keeping your hands as warm as possible.
What is glove dexterity?
A glove's dexterity is its ability to manipulate objects. Our gloves were graded in the laboratory on a scale of 1 to 5. The closer the glove's dexterity is to 5, the closer the glove's handling is to bare-hand handling. In particular, we tested the ability to easily put on and open one's jacket with these mittens open.
The dexterity of these mittens is rated at 2 when the mitten is in place, and 5 when the mitten is removed.
Did your mittens get caught in the rain?
In this case, dry them in a dry place, but avoid placing them on a heat source. This could damage the fiber and deform the fabric!
