COTTON BATH LINEN

Cotton linens are considered particularly soft. Particularly when the so-called grammage clearly exceeds the recommended value of 400 g/m². What may be very pleasant at home in the bathroom may well prove to be an inconvenience when traveling with the towel.

Particularly when traveling to far-flung countries, the heavy weight can quickly become a problem when it comes to luggage. Suitcase space is also generally limited, which can make carrying a terry towel difficult. Towelling, or terry cloth, is cotton woven with loops. Thanks to this particular weaving technique, a terry bath sheet is particularly absorbent, but dries relatively slowly, due to the high density of the fabric.

MICROFIBER BATH LINEN

Unlike a terry towel, a microfiber beach towel dries very quickly. This is mainly because microfibers are extremely fine. They are only about a third the thickness of a cotton fiber. The unit of measurement for fiber thickness is the dtex.

One dtex corresponds toa weight of one gram over a length of 10,000 meters.

A cotton bath sheet generally has a dtex value of around 1.5 to 2.5.

For a microfiber bath sheet, this value is generally around 0.3 to 0.8.

WHICH BEACH TOWEL IS PARTICULARLY LIGHT?

Due to its much finer fibers, a microfiber beach towel is much lighter than a cotton beach towel. There are, however, special hammam sheets or kikoys which, despite being made of cotton, are very light. But that's because they're not really towels at all. They may be absorbent, but they are only suitable to a limited extent for drying. A microfiber beach towel is delightfully light, highly absorbent and quick-drying.
