The Bowflex Max Total 40 Trainer combines the benefits of a stepper and a crosstrainer. The main difference between a stepper and a crosstrainer lies in the sequence of movements. When training on a crosstrainer, the movement is elliptical, similar to walking or jogging. In comparison, the movement on a stepper resembles that of climbing stairs.

Crosstrainer handles involve the arms, shoulders and upper back during training. On the stepper, however, these muscles are largely ignored. Training on a stepper intensively works the muscles of the legs and buttocks.

The Bowflex Max Trainer 40 combines these two elements, transforming training on the Max Total Trainer into an effective HIIT (high-intensity interval training) workout for the whole body.

Unlike other Max Trainer models, the movable arm bars on the Bowflex Max Total 40 offer six training positions. With the third arm bars pulled inwards, there are even more possibilities for optimal upper-body training. The inward hand position particularly strengthens your arms and pectorals.
