The PINCH - a new experience in belaying with the PINCH, a new multi-purpose belay device with assisted locking for sport climbing, long routes and rope access. The PINCH is the first device on the market that can be connected directly to the central ring of the harness. Thanks to its low, close-to-the-body positioning, there's no need to block the PINCH to give slack, so you can hold the braking side of the rope with all four fingers at all times. What's more, the compact belay system offers greater reach, enabling the belayer to give an extra 20 to 30 cm of slack at a time. The linear progression of the rope through the front steel braking grooves prevents the rope from twisting on descent or abseiling. In addition to operating the descent lever, it is possible to control speed by exerting hand pressure on the braking side, which contributes to better control of the rope on the braking side, especially with thin, supple ropes. The anti-panic function is an added safety feature, and not just for beginners. The integrated second braking level, which is triggered by pulling further on the descent lever, is a special feature enabling controlled descent when belaying particularly light people or in systems with high rope friction. Experienced climbers can deactivate the anti-panic function permanently by means of a screw supplied with the device. Another advantage: when used on long routes, the PINCH is the only device on the market that can be connected to the belay in four different directions, in 90° increments. This means that the lowering handle can always be placed in a position that allows it to be manipulated freely.
- Assisted locking belay device for versatile use in sport climbing, long routes and rope access techniques
- Close-to-body positioning thanks to direct connection to the harness, increasing control of the braking side of the rope and making it easier to use
- No risk of transverse load on the carabiner when connected directly to the harness
- Anti-panic function can be deactivated for added safety: the unit locks automatically if the lowering lever is pulled too far back.
- Second braking level if the anti-panic function is activated too often due to too low a load and/or too high rope friction
- Steel front braking grooves allow linear rope progression, limiting rope twisting, increasing rope longevity and avoiding unsightly discoloration caused by rope rubbing on aluminum.
- Relay connection in four different directions in 90° steps
- Equal use for right- and left-handed people
- Suitable for dynamic strings with diameters from 8.5 to 10.5 mm
- Suitable for static rope diameters from 10.0 to 10.5 mm (maximum user weight: 120 kg)
