Note: safety is one of the advantages of a breakaway collar over a nylon collar. They are designed to break in the event of extreme pressure, i.e. if the horse backs off while tied, or if the collar snags on a fence or solid object. This breakage normally occurs at the control rings and can result in serious injury.
