Description

A three-ring Dutch gag usually consists of four rings in total, but only three rings to which you can attach the reins, hence the name. The top ring attaches to the cheeks of the bridle, and you can attach the reins to any of the three bottom rings to provide a variety of different leverage options.
Also known as a continental bit, it works by lifting the bit into the horse's mouth in the same way as a traditional gag, but without the same severity. Using reins on the lower rings significantly increases poll pressure, so we recommend using two reins or rounding's attached to a single rein when using these rings. This allows correct contact to be maintained on the snaffle ring without pressure on the nape of the neck when necessary.
The double-jointed mouthpiece and copper pad distribute pressure evenly over the tongue and mouth bars, while reducing the nutcracker effect of a single-jointed bit. Copper is a hot metal that encourages the horse to salivate and bite the bit.

According to our size guide, the A and B measurements of this bit are as follows:

Stainless steel horse bits...
Stainless steel is the most commonly used material for horse bits because it is durable, easy to clean and does not rust. Stainless steel bits are suitable for a wide range of horses and are available in many models so you can choose the bit that's right for your horse and your discipline.
Match your three-ring bit with one of our anatomical bridles.
For health and hygiene reasons, this bit is not returnable if removed from the model.

    Care instructions
To promote good hygiene and protect the longevity of your horse bit, we recommend the following care regime after each use.
  1. After each use, rinse your bit under the tap to remove any saliva or debris from the surface.
  2. Use a sponge or soft cloth to wipe any excess debris from the jaw, paying particular attention to the joints and hinges.
