Description

The Hanging Cheek is a fixed-cheek bit that promotes flexion, making it particularly useful for horses with a high head carriage. It can also be useful for horses who are unsure of the bit, as it has limited movement in the mouth.
The Waterford mouthpiece is composed of a series of ball-shaped links, making it completely mobile in all directions. It is particularly appreciated for combating problems such as inclination, bit grip and jaw set. When the horse tries to grip the bit, the mouthpiece collapses, leaving the horse with nothing rigid to hold on to.
Brass alloy is formed when copper is alloyed with a harder metal, producing a warm, durable material that is perfect for horse bits as it can facilitate salivation and be more palatable to the horse. This Waterford with hanging cheeks is ideal for stronger horses that may also have a high head carriage. To be effective, it should be worn 1/4' to 1/2' wider than standard.
