This Weymouth and Bradoon set is specially designed for use on double bridles that are often worn for showing or dressage (elementary and advanced level). The set includes a single-joint free-ring bradoon that allows more movement than a fixed cheek bit and is ideal for horses that tend to lean and stand still. The single-joint Bradoon has a nutcracker action that works on the mouth bars and lips.
The Weymouth has a straight mouthpiece that offers a more consistent action and works on the tongue and mouth bars; the orifice leaves more room for the tongue. The Weymouth exerts a certain pressure on the mouth and, when used in conjunction with the gourmette, exerts pressure on the grooves of the mouth. The Weymouth is also used to refine aids and to encourage a horse to sit on its hocks for more advanced movements.
This set requires two reins, one attaching to the Bradoon bit and the other to the Weymouth bit. A curb chain is included and can be used with a lip strap (not included) to keep the curb chain flat. Note: double bridles should be used by experienced riders and are designed for horses that already do well with a snaffle.

Stainless steel horse bits...
Stainless steel is the most commonly used material for horse bits because it is durable, easy to clean and does not rust. Stainless steel bits are suitable for a wide range of horses and are available in many models so you can choose the bit that's right for your horse and your discipline.
Match your Weymouth bit set with one of our anatomical bridles.
For health and hygiene reasons, this bit cannot be returned if removed from the model.
