A three-ring Dutch gag usually consists of four rings in total, but only three rings to which you can attach the reins, hence the name. The top ring attaches to the cheeks of the bridle, and you can attach the reins to any of the three bottom rings to provide a variety of different leverage options.
Also known as a continental bit, it works by lifting the bit into the horse's mouth in the same way as a traditional gag, but without the same severity. Using reins on the lower rings significantly increases poll pressure, so we recommend using two reins or rounding's attached to a single rein when using these rings. This helps maintain correct contact on the snaffle ring without pressure on the nape of the neck when necessary.
The rubber mouthpiece softens the action of this bit and the copper pad encourages the horse to accept the bit and helps reduce the nutcracker action of a single-joint bit. This bit may be a good choice for riders who need a little more control for jumping or fast work.

Rubber bits for horses...
Rubber-covered bits generally have thicker mouthpieces, making them softer and ideal for horses with sensitive mouths or those who don't like metal bits. Our rubber bits have been heat-treated to make them softer to the touch and more durable. Due to their thicker mouthpiece, they may not be suitable for horses with small mouths or large tongues.
Match your three-ring bit with one of our anatomical bridles.
For health and hygiene reasons, this bit is not returnable if removed from the model.
