Alternating copper and stainless steel rollers along the mouthpiece allow the bit to move in the horse's mouth, preventing him from grabbing or leaning on the bit. The single-jointed mouthpiece has a nutcracker action applying pressure to the lips and bars of the mouth. Ring cheeks can help direct the horse, pressing on the aids when the rider requests a turn.
