DEORE XT Ice-Tech brake discs (160, 180 and 203 mm) feature a three-layer sandwich structure, with an aluminum core sandwiched between two layers of stainless steel. The improved heat dissipation of aluminum helps to reduce the surface temperature of the brake disc by around 100 degrees. Optional Ice-Tech brake pads with aluminum cooling fins can further reduce the temperature by around 50 degrees.
