At RADBUG we design products according to 4 levels of practice: Discoverer, Beginner, Advanced and Expert.
This fin is designed for experienced bodyboarders and offers just the right balance between comfort and propulsion.
Comfort is provided by the softer material of the liner.
Propulsion is provided by the stiffness and surface of the fin: stiffer material and lateral ribs.
The symmetrical shape provides a good balance between finning power and fin bulk.
For additional comfort, add neoprene socks.
The use of fin leashes is strongly recommended: To be purchased separately.
Choosing the right fin size / Recommended fin leashes.
Always try out fins before buying. Your foot should be supported without being compressed. The back strap should be in contact with your heel and your toes should not be bent.
The addition of a neoprene sock, for comfort and/or warmth, requires an extra half-size. Feel free to try on with and without a sock when you buy.
Whether or not you use fin leashes can also have an impact of a half-size, up or down.
Buoyancy.
A fin needs to be sufficiently heavy to prevent it from tapping the surface when swimming. We have therefore designed a fin with just positive buoyancy so that it will rise to the surface in the event of loss, and at the same time can be held underwater while flipping without too much effort.
Hooking into the wave.
To ride along the wave properly on a bodyboard and avoid skidding sideways, it's useful to use the fin. To do this, the lateral ribs will help you grip the face of the wave better and hold your trajectory.
An asymmetrical fin (e.g. RIP fin) can accentuate this phenomenon and will require a good deal of practice on the part of the bodyboarder, as the thrust of the fin is not symmetrical, so it leads to additional torsional effort in the knees. To be reserved for experts.
Safety rules and behaviour in the water - Part 1.
Bodyboarding is a fantastic sport that requires certain fundamental rules to be respected for the pleasure and safety of all.
1- Find out about the spot and observe its characteristics: current, rocks, tidal influence, wave size, number of people in the water...
2- Don't overestimate your level and prefer an easier spot if conditions exceed your abilities.
3- Practice with the right equipment: Leash, fins and board in good condition, suitable neoprene wetsuit.
Safety rules and behavior in the water - Part 2.
4- Respect the rules of priority on the wave: priority to whoever is closest to the breaker.
5- Go around the breaker zone when you go up to the peak to avoid cutting the path of another rider.
6- Use flippers if the water level is higher than your hips.
7- If you don't use flippers, we recommend that you practice in the safe swimming area. Ask the lifeguards on site for more information.
8- Practice with others.
Also suitable for bodysurfing.
Although this fin was originally designed for bodyboarding, it is also recommended for bodysurfing (with our handplane 100, for example). Its symmetrical blade and comfort/propulsion ratio mean it's a favorite with many bodysurfers, who surf waves with their bodies, using fins and fins (also known as handplanes).
