Slippers

Part of the fin where the foot is positioned. It can be fully closed in the case of shoe-type fins, or opened and closed by an adjustable strap in the case of adjustable fins.

The flat part of the fin contributes to its power. The longer and/or harder it is, the more powerful the fin. The shorter and/or softer, the less powerful.
