Which ball to play basketball with?
The size of the ball depends on the age or sex of the player.
Baby basketball: sizes 1 to 3.
Girls and boys under 10: size 5.
Girls over 10 or women and boys 10 to 12: size 6.
Boys over 12 and men: size 7.
If you want a very durable ball, opt for a rubber ball. If you want a ball with a good touch, a leather or synthetic ball is what you need.
For the K500 we recommend size 3.
What height basketball hoop should I choose?
The regulation height for a basketball hoop is 3.05m (height of the hoop).
If you're looking for a basketball backboard for a child, you'll need a hoop with a height-adjustment system.
For the youngest children, there is no official height, so you can choose the height that suits them.
Up to the age of 10, children play in clubs on 2.60m baskets.
After the age of 10, girls and boys play on 3.05m basketball backboards.
What precautions should you take with your basketball hoop in the event of strong winds or storms?
To avoid any accidents or breakage in strong winds or storms, we strongly advise you to lay your basketball backboard on the ground.
The larger the backboard, the greater the wind load, especially when it is raised high.
Don't take any risks.
If you live in a very windy region, you can also add extra weights to your basketball backboard.
Lester your basketball hoop with water or sand?
Most basketball baskets can be weighted with water or sand (see product information).
Sand is denser, however, so for the same volume it will be heavier: your basket will be more stable (but less mobile).
Water can also freeze in winter and break the plastic base at very low temperatures, or leak out invisibly if there are cracks in the base.
Our advice: for greater safety, weight your basket with sand.
How to maintain your basketball hoop
We recommend cleaning your basketball hoop with a damp sponge and soap. Rinse with clean water.
If your basket is equipped with a foam post protector, feel free to store it inside during the winter.
We recommend that you protect your backboard with a tarpaulin against frost and rain.
