How will these pants keep my child warm?
We've added a wadding lining and a soft, warm fleece to these pants. The fleece's synthetic fibers reproduce the performance of wool (warmth, thermal insulation) while being lighter. It's soft, comfortable, quick-drying and breathable. The fleece component traps air thanks to the volume created by its texture, keeping the body warm through its insulating power.
What does "comfort temperature" mean?
We are carrying out a comparative study in a thermal laboratory under walking conditions with a light wind (5km/h).
The comfort temperature is the air temperature calculated so that 70% of users have a "slightly warm" thermal sensation.
For these pants, it is -3°C.
However, each individual has his or her own sensitivity to cold.
Should I put tights on my child under the pants?
These pants already come with a fleece and wadding lining. So there's no need to add pantyhose, which could cause your child to sweat and get cold.
Are the pants fitted with gaiters to prevent snow from entering the ankles?
We've integrated gaiters at the bottom of the legs to prevent snow intrusion. What's more, by positioning the elastic at the bottom of the gaiters around your child's shoe or boot, the pants won't ride up.
How do my pants protect me from the elements?
Your pants have been designed with a waterproof outer component that blocks the passage of water and wind (before washing: 5,000 mm H²O (Schmerber) on the main component). In winter, to stay warm, you also need to protect your extremities (head, hands, feet).
How can I be sure that my pants are 100% waterproof?
The waterproofness of a fabric is measured in Schmerber or mm H²0 (pressure exerted by a column of water). The higher the number, the more waterproof the fabric.
This jacket features a waterproof component (JIS 1092 standard) resistant to 5,000 mm H²0 (Schmerber) before washing.
What does "100% seam-sealed" mean?
For your little ones' comfort and your peace of mind, the seams of these pants are waterproof. They are totally waterproof. We validated this waterproofing with a shower test reproducing the conditions of a 2-hour downpour.
The seams of a garment are waterproof thanks to waterproof, heat-sealed strips. Applied behind the seams, they are essential to the garment's waterproofing, preventing water penetration by capillary action.
Windproof
In winter, it's very important to be protected both from moisture (snow, rain) and from the wind, as the latter cools the body enormously, both during activity and at rest.
These pants, thanks to their waterproof coating, have the technical characteristics to be certified windproof.
Will these pants stand up to the intensity of my child's activities?
The reinforced fabric inserts on the knees and buttocks of these pants will allow your children to explore the world in total freedom. We carry out abrasion and friction resistance tests on the various components to ensure their effectiveness.
The abrasion resistance of a fabric is measured using a test called the martindale. This machine rubs a fabric sample against a reference surface with a weight on the end.
How should I dress my child for snowboarding?
To dress your child properly in winter, whatever his or her activity, we recommend applying the 3-layer principle:
layer 1: technical undergarments allow moisture transfer and keep your child's skin dry.
layer 2: fleece provides warmth and moisture transfer.
layer 3: jacket protects against external conditions: rain, snow, wind.
The whole garment must be breathable to wick away moisture.
How do you maintain these pants while preserving their technical features?
To regenerate the fabric's water repellency and optimize your garment's performance throughout its life, we recommend using a spray or liquid machine re-waterproofing agent every time you wash.
